Brent's most eye-catching buildings will open their doors to the public next weekend in a celebration of design excellence.

Thirteen architectural gems will be on show as part of Open House London - a capital-wide initiative that will see Londoners visit more than 700 attractions for free.

Councillor Paul Lorber, leader of Brent Council, said: "Brent is full of outstanding architecture, and I would be delighted to have as many people attend and experience the historical, religious and true colours of Brent.

"This weekend is for everybody to enjoy and learn the life of the borough."

Some of the buildings open to the public will be:

  • The award-winning Advait Cultural Centre, in Forty Avenue, Wembley, which will open on Sunday (21), between 9-11am.
  • The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (Neasden Temple), in Brentfield Road, Neasden, which will open on Saturday (20) and Sunday (21), between 10am-4pm.
  • Harmony Children's Centre, in Bridge Road, Wembley, open on Saturday (21), between 10am-5pm.
  • One of the oldest buildings in Brent - Old St Andrew's Church, in Church Lane, Kingsbury, open on Saturday (20), between 11am-4pm.
  • Winston Churchill's underground bunker, in Brook Road, Neasden, open on Saturday (20), between 8:30am-5pm.
